About the Artist
Celia Gullett
Australian, b. 1959
Celia Gullett (b. 1959) is an Australian abstract painter whose work explores colour, surface, light, and atmosphere. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from East Sydney Technical College in 1984, she continued developing her practice at Charlie Sheard’s Studio School from 1996–1999. Her paintings draw inspiration from music, poetry, Rajasthan, and ancient Asian philosophies, using layered and reduced paint to create luminous, meditative surfaces. Gullett has exhibited widely since 1996, with solo exhibitions since 2002 and presentations in Australia, Singapore, London, and Sweden. Her work is held in the Macquarie University Art Collection and numerous private collections internationally.
