    Thomas L. Holcomb (1948-2007) was a Washington, D.C.-born artist who earned his BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and MFA from Southern Illinois University.     Vernon Pratt (1940-2000) was an associate professor of art at Duke University. A graduate of Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, Pratt enrolled at Duke in 1958 but finished his undergraduate and master's degrees at the San Francisco Art Institute. He returned to Duke in 1964 as a professor, a position he held until his untimely death in 2000.
