Collection: Lawrence Philp

Lawrence Philp (b. 1949, New York City) is an American artist who earned degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Michigan. Influenced by artists such as Bob Thompson and Mahler B. Ryder, he developed a distinctive approach to color, form, and composition.

Philp has exhibited at notable venues including Just Above Midtown, Peg Alston Fine Arts, Kenkeleba Gallery, and the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires. In 2022, he was the subject of the solo exhibition Lawrence Philp’s Color Grid at the University of Maryland Global Campus.
